Taiwan based backlight unit (BLU) and projector maker Coretronic believes that peak season demand for projectors coming this quarter, as well as increased demand from emerging markets, will help boost the its monthly shipment to 110,000-120,000 units in the third quarter, up 17-28% on quarter. And the price competition for projector will switch to entry-level XGA models and hence pressing the proportion of SVGA models to drop in 2009.

Shen Wang, president of projection business group of Coretronic indicated that SVGA projectors shipment growth will remain high this year, but as prices for entry-level XGA projectors continue to drop, the segment will press into the market for SVGA projectors, leading to a significant drop in the proportion of SVGA shipments in 2009.
